COVID-19 Update

March 19, 2020 - COVID-19 Update
Adult & Teen Challenge of Central Canada

"I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whome I trust.'" Psalm 91:2

The COVID-19 pandemic quickly brought upheaval to the world, but at Adult & Teen Challenge we contrinue to trust in the Lord to sustain us. And during these unprecedented times, our mission remains the same - to put hope within reach of those struggling with addiction.

Our centre directors have been video conferencing daily to ensure that we follow all recommended precautions for protecting our students, staff, volunteers, customers and supporters, while still providing essential services. We wanted to share those updates with you.

RESIDENTIAL LONG-TERM PROGRAMS

  • Our men's and women's residential programs continue to operate, with COVID-19 mitigation strategies in place.
  • We have temporarily merged the Thunder Bay and Manitoba women's centres.
  • We have cancelled all outside passes and visits, gym outings, and as much interaction with the public as possible. We are communicating regularly with families of students in our care, and providing increased phone/viseo visits instead.
  • Students have access to daily updates and recommendations concerning social distancing and hygiene from provincial and federal government websites.
  • We are using industrial strength cleaner and sanitizer and cleaning heavily trafficked areas three times a day.
  • We have quarantine rooms available and strategy in place for any student who starts to show symptoms.

CANCELLED/POSTPONED/CLOSED

  • Non-residential programs
  • Living Free groups (working on video/phone options)
  • Church outreaches (video options available)
  • Public chapels
  • Family Day services
  • Jail ministry
  • Super Thrift Thunder Bay
  • Super Thrift Pembina Valley
  • Super Thrift Brandon
  • Community and trade show booths
  • Door to door ministry
This is an incredibly challenging time for us all, and we need eachother. Our team meets regularly to pray and seek the Lord for wisdom. If we can pray for you, or if there is an emergency need we can help meet, let us know. If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, let us know. God is in control!
